Vrksasana (Tree pose)

Relieves sciatica; reduces flat feet; strengthens thighs, calves, ankles, and spine; stretches the groins, inner thighs, chest and shoulders; improves sense of balance.

Stand tall, hands at your sides. Reach down with your right hand and clasp your right ankle. Draw your right foot up and place the sole against your left inner thigh; if possible, press the right heel into the inner left groin, toes pointing toward the floor. Stretch your arms straight up toward the ceiling, parallel to each other, palms facing, or touch the palms together forming an inverted V with the arms. Repeat with legs reversed.

Contradictions: Headache, insomnia, low blood pressure, high blood pressure.

Athletes: In every sport balance is a huge factor in performance. A lack of balance can drastically increase your risk of injury. Improve your balance by practicing Tree Pose daily.
